Welcome to Freedom Reins!
Success in life is about choices. Often we aren't aware of our options and continue the same self defeating behaviors hoping for different results. Working with horses in experiential activities can help you succeed in life.
Activities are designed so that you can:
- Uncover your unique strengths
- Improve your self confidence
- Develop awareness of choices
- Learn how to set goals
- Discover your creative thinking and problem solving skills
- Exercise patience, self discipline, and emotional control
Equine assisted therapy (EAP) is considered brief or strategic therapy which focuses on:
- Clearly defined goals related to specific change or behavior
- The client's responsibility for change
- Experiences that enhance the client's self-efficacy and confidence that change is possible
- Measurable outcomes
Equine assisted therapy is a powerful and effective approach that has a remarkable impact on individuals, youth, families, groups and organizational systems. EAP addresses a variety of human development needs, relationship problems and communication styles. A session is a collaborative effort between a qualified mental health professional and an EAGALA certified equine professional. The horse is a "co-facilitator" in each session and provides non-verbal communication and honest feedback.
No previous experience with horses is necessary.
Freedom Reins is the only equine assisted program in the state of Wisconsin with the highest level of certification and training from the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA), an international organization dedicated to promoting education, standards of practice and professionalism in this emerging, innovative alternative to talk therapy.
The best way to understand the power and effectiveness of this approach is to experience it firsthand.
